Thought I would put a list together of some of my favorite arcade games growing up. I spent every weekend growing up in an arcade, we had two pretty good ones in Ann Arbor; Putt-putt Golf and Games, and Pinball Pete’s. Both would get random games that would last for a couple months and then disappear forever.
Anyway here is a small list of some games I really dug.
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow Over Mystara: I really love the designs and how detailed this beat’em up was.
Street Fighter: Third Strike: Hands down the best fighting game ever made.
Elevator Action Returns: If I could have one game at home it would be this. I have very fond memories of pumping quarters in to this game.
Metal Slug (Series): If Elevator Action Returns didn’t exist this would be my favorite run and gun.
Lucky & Wild: I wish every arcade had this game. A two player driving game; player one gets to drive and shoot a gun, and player two just has a gun. So good!
Marvel vs. Capcom 2: This is the opposite of Street Fighter 3rd Strike and best played as a button masher.
Tech Romancer: Another game I just love the designs from, I’m not sure how great the game play was, but for the short time we had it in my arcade it had a long lasting impression on me.
Alien vs Predator: I want them to make a movie out of this version of AvsP universe.
BurgerTime: Simple and prefect.
Tempest: I suck at this game but it keeps me coming back. Also 30 years later and it still looks super cool.
Ninja Warriors: This game had a triple-wide screen, I wish more side-scrollers did this, it’s a really great look. Beside that the image of a red ninja girl that is also a cyborg with her hair on fire from being damaged has never left my head and never will.
